

Perhaps one of the most interesting uses that NAC has been put to is in preventing hangovers
I first learned about using NAC to help stop a hangover back in my early university days, when it was featured in the New Scientist Alcohol special edition back in 1999. I used to take 1200mg to 1800mg before I went out drinking, and another 1200mg the day after. I have to say, it really makes a difference. Of course, it doesn’t get rid of all the symptoms of over indulging (dehyration is also a major component of a hangover), but I found it really helps. I often wonder what state my liver would be in now if I hadn’t taken NAC all though my drinking years! Once I’d discovered it, I used it almost every time I went out, along with a drink of at least a pint of water before going to bed. Doing that always made the day after that much easier to deal with!
I also found it helpful to take some vitamin C before going out, and a Berroca the next day along with plenty of water throughout the day really helps as well.
